The Opportunity

The Booking Officer is responsible to ensure complete and accurate booking procedures for elective and urgent surgical patients. In this clinical environment, duties include but are not limited to patient scheduling, maintaining confidential documentation, producing excel spreadsheets and reports as required. They will work in collaboration with surgeon’s offices, anesthesia, preadmission clinics and leadership staff to allow for optimal coordination of Operating Room/Endoscopy time.  The Booking Officer also provides administrative assistant support for the PARNS Access Manager and the Operating Room Manager.

Hours of Work

Monday - Friday  8-4 pm 

Your Qualifications


•    Grade XII
•    Graduate of a business, office information technology, medical office assistant, secretarial course or equivalent combination of education and related experience
•    Two (2) years related experience in Perioperative Services required
o    If not available, 1 year related experience in Central Booking processes including creation of schedules for procedures, physicians, and patients along with waitlist management
o    If not available, consideration may be given to those with 1 year experience in the health/medical field
•    Medical terminology course or equivalent required
•    Demonstrated experience in report preparation
•    Experience with ORM and PARNS preferred
•    Advanced working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software applications, specifically Excel and Microsoft Word
•    Ability to organize and prioritize duties
•    Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSH
•    Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
