The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Contracts & Procurement, the Buyer is responsible for the procurement of low-value goods and services in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to established policies/procedures. The Buyer is also responsible for the daily maintenance/accuracy of purchasing system information. 

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate the procurement of goods and services
  • Expedite and return of goods as required
  • Obtain pricing and other commercial terms for requisitioned inventory and non-inventory items 
  • Maintain electronic data interchange ordering system. 
  • Maintain vendor and item master data
  • Maintain supporting documentation for internal and external audit purposes
  • Interact with staff and vendor representatives in a friendly, open and professional manner
  • Accurate communication of information
  • Prioritize tasks in accordance with departmental guidance
  • Help identify internal client needs and make every effort to meet their service level expectations in a timely, friendly, helpful, and professional manner, 
  • Communicate effectively verbally and electronically
  • Support, promote, and adhere to organizational and departmental policies and procedures
  • Maintains confidentiality of all financial, vendor, patient, and employee information

Hours of Work

Monday-Friday, 70 hours bi-weekly.

Your Qualifications

  • Graduate from a recognized two-year Business Administration or Supply Chain Management Diploma Program, and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business, and/or SCMP, and/or recognized equivalent required
  • Additional related courses in areas such as procurement, logistics, supply chain, inventory management, etc. may be required depending on education background
  • Minimum of six (6) months related experience required
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in the Purchasing function in a computerized Health Care setting preferred
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • The ability to negotiate with vendors and other significant parties required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs/technology
  • Experience working in SAP is an asset
  • Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of inter-professional team members
  • High degree of initiative, diligence, attention to detail, and self-discipline
  • Commitment to continual learning and willing to share knowledge and support the development of co-workers
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.
